Short cv:

I am a student of a Master’s degree in Antarctic Sciences at the University of Magallanes, Chile. Before coming to Punta Arenas I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, México, where I had an approach with marine sciences, specifically with dynamical oceanography.

I am keen on climate change, particularly in the processes related to the cryosphere and ocean interactions. I recently participated in the Antarctic Scientific Expedition #55 (ECA 55) led by the Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH), within the framework of Dr. Carlos Cárdena´s and Dr. Gino Casassa´s research project, which seeks to evaluate the mass balance of Arctowski icefield, on the north-western part of King George Island. My thesis project involves the quantification of the water contribution of Lange Glacier (King George Island) to the marine system, and its impact on oceanographic properties based on in situ and remote sensing measurements.

The shipboard training on board the RV Polarstern represents for me a one-time opportunity to gain high-level qualifications that will allow improving significantly my professional career, as to contribute to the worldwide efforts to elucidate the consequences of global climate change in marine ecosystems.
