Short cv:
I am a Geophysicist (2017) at the University of Concepción, Chile. I have a solid background in physics, mathematics and computer science, which I have perfected with elective courses in the specialty of my interest; Oceanography with couplings in biogeochemical and biological processes. This education is complemented by experience in processing and analyzing data thanks to my computer skills in Matlab, Octave, Linux, GMT, COMCOT, ROMS, ARCGIS, R, Ichthyop, SeaDAS and DINEOF. My interests include the physical-biological interaction of the ocean, satellite images, operational oceanography, biophysical modeling and statistical models.
My current job activity involves a participation in the project "Monitoring Program of the Main National Fisheries, Year 2018. Fisheries of Crustaceans of the Juan Fernández Archipelago" as a research assistant. In this project I’m in charge of the retrieval and processing of satellite data (e.g. SST, Chl-a, SLA) to make statistics analysis (correlation, EOF, GLM) to find the relationship between environmental data and Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) of Juan Fernandez lobster (Jasus frontalis), a crucial fishery for the native habitants of Juan Fernandez Archipelago.
The idea to participate in this research cruise is in order to increase my knowledge and experience in data collection in situ, as well as processing techniques. In addition, I am in the process of defining my line of research and seeing possible doctoral programs abroad, which would help me to expand my contact networks and open my options for graduate programs and countries in which to develop them.
